Towards
Confederation in the Horn of Africa Focus
on Ethiopia and Eritrea
This
is a new addition to the volumes of works on the Horn
of Africa. From the back page of the Book: In this
book Professor Tesfatsion Medhanie explores the
possibility of confederal relations between Ethiopia
and Eritrea. Such an arrangement could become the
nucleus of a Horn of Africa confederation. The author
discusses the obstacles at present and the necessary
conditions for success in this regard.
Dr. Tesfatsion
Medhanie teaches law and political science at the
University of Bremen, Germany. An Eritrean by birth,
he has been engaged in dialogue on the Horn of Africa
and US policy for over two decades. He has written two
books, discussion papers and articles on various
political issues of the Horn, Africa’s liberation,
human rights, and on democratization processes on the
continent. Prior to joining the University of Bremen,
Professor Medhanie taught in several universities in
Africa and the U. S. A. in 1990-91, he served as a
constitutional law advisor in independent Namibia. In
2001, he was a visiting professor at the University of
Namibia, Windhoek.
