Impending Genocide in Darfur, West Sudan

IDEA has learned that the on-going massive killings in Darfur, West Sudan, perpetrated by the so-called Janjaweed militia, who, in turn, apparently enjoy the support of the central government in Khartoum, may unleash genocide in an effort of ethnic cleansing.

IDEA seriously appeals to the United States Government and the Bush Administration to avert the impending genocide by using its diplomatic prowess at a time when it is about to broker a negotiating table for the Government of Sudan and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA).

IDEA appreciates the efforts of the many peace loving organizations including Priority Africa Network (Berkeley, CA), Washington Office on Africa (Washington, DC), TransAfrica Forum (Washington, DC), Global Exchange –GX—(San Francisco, CA).

IDEA’s Educational Projects for Africa

IDEA is proud to announce that its Education Committee will offer pro bono consulting on education to all African nations, especially to the promising countries that are committed to democratic governance, transparency, and accountability. In addition, IDEA will cooperate with higher institutions of learning in developing educational standards.

IDEA will sign contractual agreements with respective African nations in developing a state-of-the-art Standards for the Teaching Profession at a very reasonable cost. The Standards could vary, depending on individual countries cultural and historical backgrounds as well as their level of economic development and priority agendas. However, IDEA’s Standards will include universal and holistic vision of pedagogy that will ultimately satisfy respective African nations by creating uniform curriculum development and instruction across the board in the continent of Africa.

IDEA’s Standards will feature the following important themes:

1) Introduction; 2) Organization; 3) Objectives; 4) Foundations; 5) Student Learners; 6) Positive and Effective School Environment; 7) Organization of Subject-Matter; 8) Planning  Instruction Theories and Methodologies; 9) Designing Learning Experiences; 10) Needs Assessment; 11) Professional Education for Development.
